Loss walks into work with your people.
Most organisations have a compassionate leave policy and very little else. Grief to Growth for Organisations equips managers and teams to respond to bereavement, illness and loss with competence rather than avoidance — so that good people are supported properly and do not quietly leave.

The cost your current provision does not address
Nearly 1 in 3 employees are experiencing the effects of unresolved grief at any point in time. Most never raise it. Most organisations have no structured pathway to address it.
Up to 60%
reduction in cognitive function, affecting focus, decisions, and delivery
20–30%
higher burnout risk as emotional fatigue depletes work capacity
35%
less likely to pursue promotions or step into leadership opportunities
10–20%
loss in earning potential over a career when grief is left unresolved
1 in 3
employees symptomatic right now — and most stay silent
These are not wellness statistics. They are performance and retention statistics.
Grief is not limited to bereavement
Any significant loss can trigger a grief response that degrades performance for months or years. Most organisations' provision accounts only for bereavement. The majority of grief affecting your workforce is invisible to your current policies.
Bereavement and serious illness
Redundancy and job loss
Divorce and family breakdown
Career disruption, demotion, or missed promotion
Identity change and role transition
Financial loss or business failure
If your organisation is going through or has recently gone through a restructure, redundancy programme, or significant change, the proportion of affected employees is likely higher than your data suggests.
What most organisations have — and what is missing
What currently exists
- A bereavement leave policy (typically 3–5 days)
- An EAP helpline (often underused and underpromoted)
- A general employee wellbeing programme
- A manager told to check in periodically
- An implicit assumption that time will resolve it
What is missing
- Structured support for grief beyond bereavement
- A process for the 1 in 3 who never come forward
- Manager capability to recognise and respond appropriately
- A clear pathway from awareness through to resolution
- A proactive benefit, not just a reactive policy
The gap between what you offer and what employees need is where performance, engagement, and talent are being quietly lost.
Grief to Growth: a structured resolution pathway for individual employees
Grief to Growth is an 8-session 1:1 resolution programme using the Edu-Therapy™ method. It is not therapy. It is a structured, professionally delivered, outcome-focused process that takes employees from acknowledgement through to full emotional resolution — without requiring them to be in clinical distress to access it.
Certified with Edu-Therapy™ — edu-therapy.uk- 1
Phase 1: Acceptance
Understanding and naming unresolved grief — what it is, where it lives in the employee's professional behaviour, and why it has not shifted.
- 2
Phase 2: Awareness
Connecting with the emotions beneath the surface. Identifying how grief is shaping decisions, confidence, output, and relationships at work.
- 3
Phase 3: Action
Resolving emotional triggers. Rebuilding clarity, motivation, and professional momentum.
- Eligible for
- Occupational Health registration | Redundancy package inclusion
- Suitable for
- Any employee who has experienced a significant loss event
Manager training and team support, as well as one-to-one resolution
Grief to Growth for organisations is not limited to individual programmes. Alongside the 1:1 resolution pathway, we equip the people around the affected employee — because support should never depend on one manager getting it right.
01
Manager training
A practical workshop for people managers on what to say, what to avoid, and how to hold a supportive conversation after a loss — without drifting into therapy. Managers leave with the language, the boundaries, and the confidence to respond well from the first conversation.
02
Team sessions
Facilitated sessions for teams affected by a loss — whether a colleague's bereavement, a redundancy, or a restructure. The aim is simple: restore honest, workable communication so the team can function while the person is properly supported.
03
Return-to-work coaching
The full Grief to Growth resolution programme for the individual, delivered one-to-one by a certified Edu-Therapy™ specialist — including structured support for colleagues returning after extended absence following a loss.
How organisations use Grief to Growth
01
Occupational Health Benefit
Register Visible Strengths Co. as an approved Occupational Health provider. Employees access Grief to Growth following a loss event as a structured, triggered benefit — separate from, and complementary to, existing EAP provision.
02
Redundancy Package Add-On
Include Grief to Growth in outplacement or redundancy packages. It provides meaningful, structured support for departing employees — and protects your employer brand in the process.
03
Post-Restructure Deployment
Commission Grief to Growth for employees remaining in the organisation following a restructure or significant change. Addresses the grief response that is rarely named but consistently present after organisational disruption.
Important to note
- Grief to Growth is not a clinical or therapeutic service and does not position itself as one
- It is not a substitute for mental health treatment or crisis support
- It does not overlap with EAP provision — it addresses what EAP typically does not
- It is confidential: summary outcome reports can be provided to commissioning organisations without individual disclosure, subject to agreement
- Practitioners are certified in the Edu-Therapy™ resolution method
